Main Tent Talent

Soma Records North American tour featuring:

Funk D'Void
Scotland
Since 1988 Funk D'Void has played a key role in mapping Glasgow's club scene alongside other crucial European cities. In the studio his productions draw on influences from Trax to Transmat and jazz to funk. As one of Soma's most popular artists, his blistering dj sets are in demand around the world.

Slam
Scotland
The Slam duo has been responsible for some of techno's most electrifying records and remixes, as well as hosting some of the UK's most celebrated underground club nights. With friends they started the revolutionary Soma Recordings in '91 which introduced to the world talents like Daft Punk and the Soma crew you will experience at Furthur.

Percy X
Scotland
Tony Scott (of Havana fame) is the highly talented dj and producer known as Percy X. His productions are considered essential techno that's purpose-built for the 4am dancefloor. The style is an eclectic fusion of soulful house, hard funky techno, and downtempo dub.

Richard Harvey live
aka User
London
Hawtin tested and approved (the User appears an unequaled six times! on the DE909 mix cd)...and they say "what's good for the goose is good for the gander". This mystery man had many people stumped, but there is no questioning the power of his tracks on the tech house dancefloor. We finally located him and he's coming over for his first US appearance!

Richard Turner
Utility Plastics
London
The Utility Plastics label is popping up on top ten charts of techno jocks around the world. Like User it's completely anonymous, applying the same 'shut up and dance' school of thought. The music is hard pounding percussion with heavy kicks and plenty-o-funk. Richard Turner is the man behind it all and as a dj he works a mixer like the best of 'em from Detroit.

Mark EG
Blackout Audio, Bonzai, Cluster, M8/Wax

London
Well known throughout the world for his intense mind-blowing stage presence that includes eating records, smashing decks, and starting record cases on fire. He's also known for spinning full throttle knockout trance sets. At Furthur expect...well, who knows what the hell to expect!

Scott Hardkiss
Hardkiss Music, Sunburn

San Francisco
"Can you feel IT?" is a question that is rarely answered, but at Furthur '96 IT was felt. If you were there then you know what we're talking about. One man, one moment...Rocket Man. And now he's back to regenerate people through the signature Hardkiss west coast progressive house and trance.

Woody McBride
aka dj ESP
Communique Records

Minneapolis
Check out the ESP rap sheet: pioneer of the Midwest scene, a Furthur founding father, inventor of the "wall of bass", legendary acid music producer, owner of world renowned Communique Records, globe trotting mystical dj, and to this day still pushing the raving envelope.

Matt Green live
Corrupt, Disturbance, Special Forces
London
Coming out of the UK hardcore underground to rock the bass cabinets with a relentless kick drum attack in his first US appearance. Seek and destroy!

UFO!
Phunckateck, Position Chrome, Thermal, Green Label

San Francisco
Bringing turntablist skills and fresh west coast dub plates that will include his own trademark productions of hard techsteppin' beats and layers of futuristic sound effects.

Double D vs. Camry
The Sub-Link vs. Horizon

Calgary vs. Charlotte
The ultimate hardcore showdown in a battle of the sexes that pits Canada against the USA. Let's get ready to rumble!

Lego
Afterhours, Red Dog

Chicago
His Boom Boom Room is the place to go in Chicago to hear the best vocal house and Latin grooves. We're gonna get a taste of that and more in rural Wisconsin.

Mazi
Afterhours, Gourmet Recordings, Grayhound

Chicago
A shinny new coin in a city where house dj's and producers are practically a dime a dozen. Mazi is looked upon as the future of house music here today.

Justin Long
Gramaphone, IHR

Chicago
How many times can we book this guy? How about once more! Nobody beats the box like Justin. Always a crowd favorite, and ours too.

Phantom 45
Chicago
By day he's a pistol packin', monkey drinkin', no money bum. By night he's a Midwest drum and bass superhero. Or maybe it's the other way around? Rewind.

UndergroundSolJazz
Chicago
Acclaimed nine member drumnbass battle hiphop PA from Chicago's southside. Original spaino/engla' rhymes, beats, synths, and basslines to move those waistlines.

Frankie Vega
Mushgroove, SHR, Blue Line

Chicago
A Midwest veteran who's been with us every step of the way from raver, to dj, to promoter, to music producer.

Jes One
Groove Shop, Deceptikon Unit

Rockford
The votes are in and two years in a row Rockford's favorite dj is none other than Jes One.

WBA special feature
Russ Abitz, Matt Butler, and Curtis
West Benders
Opening the Even Furthur weekend with three of the finest new techno talents in our area bar none.
