Haunted House Party tickets
11.23.02
transmission: website
We are posting this information below because obviously this situation
does concern the future of events here in Southeastern Wisconsin and therefore
it concerns us. Since we will be getting a fair amount of web traffic
over the next few weeks with people checking out the
dbn.nye event we wanted to help get the word out.
First and
foremost, the Haunted House Party was not one of our events and we
were in no way involved with this event. Any questions, comments,
concerns, or whatever should be directed to the Majestic Theatre Restoration
Group who produced the event. You can get in touch with them through
their website. Even if you don't need to get in touch with them you should
go to their site and check out their news and updates. There's
a lot of good interesting reading.
Go to www.HauntedHouseParty.com
Were you
one of the 400 and some lucky recipients of a $968 ticket for being
an "inmate in a disorderly house" on Saturday, November
02/03, 2002? Well then...
*** It's
important you fill these out***

The ACLU complaint form gives your consent to the ACLU to represent
you, if they choose to do so. You MUST fill it out for them to consider
representing you. They will contact you directly.
If you were issued a ticket, the Haunted House Party promoters are advising
that you should plead not guilty. You may plead not guilty by mail.
Alternately, you can fax your not guilty plea to 262-636-9110.
See below for a sample letter to use.
The Municipal
Court will then mail you a court date for you. This may be several weeks,
to months later. By this time, legal representation should be in place
for everyone.
The City Attorney has offered a reduced fine of $100 for everyone if they
plead guilty or no contest. Why should you even pay $1 if you have to
plead guilty? Then you're admitting you did something wrong. What did
anyone (except the 3 people, out of 448, that were actually arrested)
do wrong at this legally permitted event?
Form
letter for pleading not guilty by mail/fax:
Simply copy and paste this letter into a word processing program, insert
in your specific information, and mail, fax or drop off to the Racine
Municipal Court.
It's advisable that you either send this letter certified mail, or have
a fax confirmation printed, and follow up with a phone call to confirm
they received your not guilty plea.
